What Is a Commercial Building Security System?
A commercial building security system combines cameras, video recording and management software, door access control, and sensors, connected by the network inside your building. Together, they let you see what's happening, control who gets in and where, and find out quickly when something changes. Unlike a consumer camera kit, a commercial system is designed around your floor plan, your doors, and your network, and it's built to grow from one building to several.
Signs It's Time to Upgrade Your Building Security
- Your cameras are old analog models, and the footage isn't clear enough to use.
- Keys go missing, and there's no way to know who still has one.
- You manage more than one building and can't see them all from one place.
- You need to review footage without driving to the site.
- An incident, an insurance requirement, or a compliance audit is forcing the question.

Built on Infrastructure We Design and Secure
Every camera, door reader, and sensor in your building is a network device. That's why building security is part of Advent's infrastructure division: the same team that runs your cabling, switching, and Wi-Fi designs your security system to sit on it. Our cabling technicians are on staff, and we bring in vetted subcontractors only when a project's scope or timeline calls for it.
Because Advent also manages IT and cybersecurity, your cameras and door controllers don't become the unpatched back door into your network. Few security-only installers can say that.
How a Building Security Project Works
- Free site survey. We walk your building, look at entrances, coverage areas, doors, and existing equipment, and give you a written plan.
- System design and quote. We lay out camera placement, door hardware, sensors, and network requirements, with a fixed quote.
- Installation. Our team runs the cabling and installs cameras, readers, sensors, and paging, scheduled around your hours.
- Testing and walkthrough. We test every camera and door and show your team how to use the system.
- Maintenance. Keep it running with a camera maintenance plan, and call the same team when you expand.
What we do – and don't do: Advent designs, installs, and maintains your cameras, door access, and sensors. We don't provide alarm or video monitoring services. Your team stays in control of the system; we keep it working.
