What Is Structured Cabling?
Structured cabling is an organized, standards-based system of cables, patch panels, and pathways that connects every device in your building back to your network closets. It's the opposite of cable added one run at a time over the years – the kind of closet nobody can trace, where a single bad connection takes a department offline. Done right, it makes your network faster, easier to troubleshoot, and ready for whatever you add next, from Wi-Fi access points to cameras and door readers.
Signs It's Time to Rebuild Your Network Infrastructure
- You're moving, expanding, or building out a new space.
- Wi-Fi slows down or drops in parts of the building.
- Nobody can trace the cables in your network closet.
- You're adding cameras, door access, or new phones.
- A warehouse or plant floor needs coverage it doesn't have.
What Advent Builds
How a Network Infrastructure Project Works
- Free site survey. We walk the space, look at your closets, pathways, and existing cabling, and give you a written plan.
- Design and quote. We lay out cable runs, closet layout, switching, Wi-Fi coverage, and firewall placement, with a fixed quote.
- Installation. Our cabling technicians do the work, scheduled around your hours or coordinated with your contractor on new construction.
- Testing. Every cable run is tested before we hand it over.
- Documentation. You get labeled cabling and documentation of what was installed and where, so the next change is easy.
- Handoff or ongoing management. Take the keys, or let Advent keep it running (below).

Keep It Running After Installation
Advent builds the network, and we can run it too. Ongoing network maintenance and firewall maintenance are available as add-ons, and our AdventCare plans cover monitoring, patching, and support for the servers and computers connected to it. One team that knows how your network was built is the fastest team to fix it.
